'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go' by Wham!
'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go'
by Wham!

(Jitterbug) (4x)

You put the boom-boom into my heart
You send my soul sky high when your lovin' starts
Jitterbug into my brain
Goes a bang-bang-bang 'til my feet do the same

But something's bugging you, something ain't right
My best friend told me what you did last night
Left me sleepin' in my bed
I was dreaming but I should have been with you instead

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high (yeah yeah)

You take the grey skies out of my way
You make the sun shine brighter than Doris Day
Turned a bright spark into a flame
My beats per minute never been the same

'Cause you're my lady, I'm your fool
It makes me crazy when you act so cruel
Come on, baby, let's not fight
We'll go dancing, everything will be alright

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high (yeah yeah, baby)

(Jitterbug) (2x)

Cuddle up, baby, move in tight
We'll go dancing tomorrow night
It's cold out there, but it's warm in bed
They can dance, we'll stay home instead

(Jitterbug)

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
Take me dancing tonight

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't you dare to leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Take me dancing

(Boom-boom-boom)
(repeat and fade out)

I don't much like this song like... at all. I mean it's ok but I really don't like it though.

My reason for posting it is the video I just took of Darrell that shall soon be on the web. He wants it on the web so I'm certainly posting it ASAP I just gotta find a cable to connect the camera to her PC without use of a VCR.

But that's about it for this song. Stay tuned.

'People Got to Be Free' by The Rascals
'People Got to Be Free'
by The Rascals

All the world over, so easy to see
People everywhere just wanna be free

Listen, please listen, that's the way it should be
Peace in the valley, people got to be free

You should see, what a lovely, lovely world this would be
If everyone learned to live together

It seems to me such an easy, easy thing this would be
Why can't you and me learn to love one another

All the world over, so easy to see
People everywhere just wanna be free
I can't understand it, so simple to me
People everywhere just got to be free

Ah, ah, yeah . . . ah, ah, yeah

If there's a man who is down and needs a helping hand
All it takes is you to understand and to see him through

Seems to me, we got to solve it individually
And I'll do unto you what you do to me
There'll be shoutin' from the mountains on out to sea
(out to the sea)

No two ways about it, people have to be free
(they got to be free)
Ask me my opinion, my opinion will be
(ah-ha)

It's a natural situation for a man to be free
Oh, what a feelin's just come over me
Enough to move a mountain, make a blind man see
Everybody's dancin', come on, let's go see
Peace in the valley, now they want to be free

This song is about Martin Luther King, Jr. and it is rather clear how. It is about peace and how great it would be if everyone could be free and shit.

I love this song so much, people. The lyrics alone are amazing but to hear it to music is simply magical.

'Long December' by Counting Crows
'Long December'
by Counting Crows

A long December and there's reason to believe
Maybe this year will be better than the last
I can't remember the last thing that you said as you were leaving
Oh the days go by so fast

And it's one more day up in the canyons
And it's one more night in Hollywood
If you think that I could be forgiven
I wish you would
(Na na na, etc. yeah)

The smell of hospitals in winter
And the feeling that it's all a lot of oysters, but no pearls
All at once you look across a crowded room
To see the way that light attaches to a girl

And it's one more day up in the canyons
And it's one more night in Hollywood
If you think you might come to California
I think you should
(Na na na, etc. yeah)

Drove up to Hillside Manor sometime after 2 a.m.
And talked a little while about the year
I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower
Makes you talk a little lower about the things you could not show her

And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe
Maybe this year will be better than the last
I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself
To hold on to these moments as they pass

And it's one more day up in the canyon
And it's one more night in Hollywood
It's been so long since I've seen the ocean
I guess I should
(Na na na, etc. yeah)

Let's just start by me saying how much I love this song, though I'm not sure I know why.

The song is about the writer's friend who was ran over by a car and it is essentially about how maybe next year will be better, etc.

Maybe it is just the rather positive nature of the song considering all things.

Anywho, I'll try to post more in-depth in the near future. I'm constantly rushed these days.

'D-Generation X Theme' by ???
'D-Generation X Theme'
by ???

Are you ready?
Yeah you think you can tell us what to do?
You think you can tell us what to wear?
You think that you're better?
Well you better get ready...
To bow to the masters...
BREAK IT DOWN

Degenerate into something fool,
We just got tired, of doin' what you told us to do
But that's the breaks boy (Yeah)
That's the breaks little man
Break it down

D-Generation X!

Degeneration!

You think you can tell me what to do?
You know who you're talkin' to?
Well you better get used to the way the ball bounces,
You do what you got,
It measures in ounces,
But that's the breaks boy (Yeah)
That's the breaks little man
Break it down

D-Generation X!

Degeneration!

You think you're a big man?
I'll treat you like you're a little man

Yo, tell me what it's like, to be half a man
And must it break your heart, to see what I am BUT
That's the breaks boy
That's the breaks little man
Break it down

D-Generation X!

Degeneration!

You think you can tell me what to do?
You know who you're talkin' to?

Wanted me to be someone else
You can be like a book on a shelf
That you can't read boy (Yeah)
That you can't read little man
Break it down

This song is the shit, k?

It was the entrance music of one of my favorite wrestling stables of all time, D-X.

I'm not sure of the name of the actual band's name but it sounds like Rage Against the Machine (though I doubt it is).

Read those lyrics though or listen to the song. Its a pretty bad ass song.

'American Girl' by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
'American Girl'
by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Well she was an American girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin'
That there was a little more to life somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
And if she had to die tryin'
She had one little promise she was gonna keep

O yeah, all right
Take it easy, baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl

Well it was kinda cold that night
She stood alone on her balcony
Yeah, she could hear the cars roll by
Out on 441 like waves crashin' on the beach
And for one desperate moment
There he crept back in her memory
God it's so painful when something that's so close
Is still so far out of reach

Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy, baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl

I've always love this song. I'm not even sure of why.

Probably my most memorable thought of this song would be in 'Silence of the Lambs'. It just fit so well.

Anywho, I'm being rushed so I can't post much more, but I do love this song like a bitch.

'Disposable Teens' Marilyn Manson
'Disposable Teens'
by Marilyn Manson

And I'm a black rainbow, and I'm an ape of god
I've got a face that's made for voilence upon
And I'm a teen distortion, survived abortion
A rebel from the waste down

Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah

I wanna thank you, Mom, I wanna thank you, Dad
For bringin' this fuckin' world to a bitter end
I never really hated a one true god, but the god of the people I hated!

Chorus:
You say you want an evolution? The ape was a great big hit!
You say you want a revolution, man? Well I say that you're full of shit!
We're disposable teens, we're disposable teens,
we're disposable teens, we're disposable.

Chorus Repeat.

Another Marilyn Manson song about something not too unique from the previous.

Most people think this song is about what went down at Columbine that Manson was blamed for.

Regardless it is a pretty powerful song. Sorry for the lack of explainations though it is a little late and I'm tired.

'Fight Song' by Marilyn Manson
'Fight Song'
by Marilyn Manson

Nothing suffocates you more than
the passing of everyday human events
Isolation is the oxygen mask you make
your children breath into survive

But I'm not a slave to a god
that doesn't exist
But I'm not a slave to world
that doesn't give a shit

And when we were good
you just closed you eyes
So when we are bad
we're going to scar your minds

fight, fight, fight, fight

You'll never grow up to be a big-
rock-star-celebrated-victim-of-your-fame
They'll just cut our wrists like
cheap coupons and say that death
was on sale today

And when we were good
you just closed you eyes
So when we are bad
we're scar your minds

But I'm not a slave to a god
that doesn't exist
But I'm not a slave to world
that doesn't give a shit

the death of one is a tragedy
the death of one is a tragedy
the death of one is a tragedy
but death of a million is just a statistic

(CHORUS)

fight, fight, fight, fight

This song is about someone who is angry at God and likely the world. Its pretty simple, actually.

I love this song and I absolutely love the last line(s) of it.

'Radio GaGa' by Queen
'Radio GaGa'
by Queen

I'd sit alone and watch your light
My only friend through teenage nights
And everything I had to know
I heard it on my radio
Radio.

You gave them all those old time stars
Through wars of worlds -- invaded by Mars
You made 'em laugh -- you made 'em cry
You made us feel like we could fly.

So don't become some background noise
A backdrop for the girls and boys
Who just don't know or just don't care
And just complain when you're not there
You've had your time, you've had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
Radio.

All we hear is Radio ga ga
Radio goo goo
Radio ga ga
All we hear is Radio ga ga
Radio blah blah
Radio what's new?
Radio, someone still loves you!

We watch the shows -- we watch the stars
On videos for hours and hours
We hardly need to use our ears
How music changes through the years.

Let's hope you never leave old friend
Like all good things on you we depend
So stick around cos we might miss you
When we grow tired of all this visual
You've had your time, you've had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
Radio

All we hear is Radio ga ga
Radio goo goo
Radio ga ga
All we hear is Radio ga ga
Radio goo goo
Radio ga ga
All we hear is Radio ga ga
Radio blah blah
Radio what's new?
Radio, someone still loved you...

This song is about the 'death' of radio at the hands of MTV and corporate ownership of radio stations.

Personally, I love the radio. 'Coast to Coast AM' is a staple in my late night life. And my infamously long showers are dominated by me listening to the radio as I bathe.

Don't get me wrong, ya know. I want an XM radio like a bitch but I also think free radio is something great to have. Music is my biggest love after my son and to get it for free is the best.

By the way, this version of the lyrics are not totally correct. I know for a fact he says at least once in the chorus "All we hear is radio ca-ca" but these were good minus that bit so I chose to use 'em. Bite me.

Anywho, that's all I've got for now as I just had to retype this entire post due to having to chase Shannon's cat down for her yet again per her mistakes. I feel I likely left something(s) out but I can't put my finger on it so I will just have to post 'as is'.

'Germs' by 'Weird Al' Yankovic
'Germs'
by 'Weird Al' Yankovic

Sometimes I really want to be alone
But that's one state I'm never in
Because I know that I've got millions upon millions
Of tiny, one-celled organisms living on my skin

(Germs) I rub and scrub until my flesh is raw and bleeding
(Germs) But they just come right back again
(Germs) I can't even see'em,
but I know they're up to something
Hey, don't touch that - you don't know where it's been!

They're all over me
They're inside of me
Can't get'em offa me
I'm covered with... microscopic bacteria
What do they want from me
What'll they do to me?
There's no escape for me
I'm crawling with... microscopic bacteria

Now if I ever dare to go to sleep
That's when they start their sneak attack
In the morning I wake up in utter horror
To find my teeth are covered with bacterial plaque

(Germs) Can't get those parasitic creatures off my face
(Germs) And there's more comin' every day
(Germs) I never said that they could camp out on my body
I wish they'd pack their tiny little bags and move away

They're all over me
They're inside of me
Can't get'em offa me
I'm covered with... microscopic bacteria
What do they want from me
What'll they do to me?
There's no escape for me
I'm crawling with... microscopic bacteria

They're creepin' around my shorts
They're under the bathroom sink
They're ridin' inside my car
They're swimmin' in every drink
They're hidin' between my toes
They're lurkin' in every kiss
I got'em way up my nose
In every orifice
I'm gonna show them who's boss
I'm gonna get even yet
Just gimme some Lysol spray
Just hand me a moist towelette
Don't tell me I'm paranoid
I know that they're after me
Look under the microscope
See??

They're all over me
They're inside of me
Can't get'em offa me
I'm covered with... microscopic bacteria
What do they want from me
What'll they do to me?
There's no escape for me
I'm crawling with... microscopic bacteria

They're all over me
I can feel'em all over me
Over every part of me
Microscopic bacteria
I know they're watching me
They're always watching me
They're coming after me
Microscopic bacteria
Won't somebody help me
Please sombody help me
You've got to believe me
They're out to get me
They wanna control me
They wanna destroy me
They're tryin' to kill me
It kind of upsets me

This song is about an obsessive-compulsive who knows that germs are everywhere and it freaks him out.

Personally, I am obsessive-compulsive so I know how it feels. I know it was supposed to be comical and it actually is but its like the show 'Monk'. Its funny and it might be exaggerated a little but it still is true.

The song itself is not a parody but it is done as more of a stylistic parody of Nine Inch Nails (at least that's what I and many others tend to think)

This song, the one before, and the two Train songs were all posted on the same day (early morning 2/12/06)

'The Great Pretender' by The Platters
'The Great Pretender'
by The Platters

Oh yes, I'm the great pretender
Pretending that I'm doing well
My need is such, I pretend too much
I'm lonely but no one can tell

Oh yes, I'm the great pretender
Adrift in a world of my own
I've played the game, but to my real shame,
You've left me to grieve all alone
Too real is this feeling of make-believe
Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal

Yes, I'm the great pretender
Just laughin' and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I'm not, you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're still around
Too real is this feeling of make-believe
Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal

Yes, I'm the great pretender
Just laughin' and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I'm not, you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're still around
(Still around)

This is a great beach music / doo wop song by a great group. I should be seeing this group very soon, too. Hee Hee Hee.

I actually think this song is pretty sad. Read the lyrics and if you still don't get why its sad, listen to the song.

Freddy Mercury of Queen also did a version of this song that I've heard is really good but I have not heard it so I can't say.

This song really is great, though. And it is a classic at that.

'Meet Virginia' by Train
'Meet Virginia'
by Train

She doesn't own a dress
Hair is always a mess
You catch her stealin',
she won't confess,
she's beautiful.
Smokes a pack a day
Wait, that's me, but anyway,
She doesn't care a thing about that, hey,
She thinks I'm beautiful
Meet Virginia.

Chorus:
Well she wants to be the Queen
Then she thinks about her scene
Pulls her hair back as she screams
I don't really wanna be the queen

Her daddy wrestles alligators,
Mama works on carburetors
Her brother is a fine mediator for the President
Well here she is again on the phone
Just like me hates to be alone
We just like to sit at home,
and rip on the President
Meet Virginia.

Repeat Chorus:

She only drinks coffee at Midnight,
when the moment is not right,
her timing is quite unusual
you see her confidence is tragic,
but her intuition magic
and the shape of her body, unusual
Meet Virginia I can't wait to
Meet Virginia Yea

Repeat Chorus:
I don't really wanna be the queen (repeat until fade)

This song is about my kind of girl, lol.

This is a great song, though. Every song I've ever heard by this band, I love. Given its only like two songs.

But its about a girl named Virginia who is 'different' but in a good way.

'Drops of Jupiter' by Train
'Drops of Jupiter'
by Train

Now that she's back in the atmosphere
With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's time to change, hey, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey

Tell me did you sail across the sun
Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated

Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star
One without a permanent scar
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

Now that she's back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey
She checks out Mozart while she does tae-bo
Reminds me that there's time to grow, hey, hey

Now that she's back in the atmosphere
I'm afraid that she might think of me as plain ol' Jane
Told a story about a man who is too afraid to fly so he never did land

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back to the Milky Way
And tell me, did Venus blow your mind
Was it everything you wanted to find
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know you're wrong
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back toward the Milky Way

Repeat 1st Chorus

I love this song to no end, folks. Seriously.

When I first heard it I loved it.

Most people seem to think its about a couple that splits up to see if they were really meant to be with each other and he's thinking that its pretty likely that she isn't coming back.
But I also see this song as positive in it seems to be about having someone who is also like the perfect friend. Or maybe it isn't a love he's talking about at all. Perhaps it is about a friend entirely. I dunno.

Seriously though. I love this song.

'The Freshman' by The Verve Pipe
'The Freshman'
by The Verve Pipe

When I was young I knew everything
She a punk who rarely ever took advice
Now I'm guilt stricken,
Sobbing with my head on the floor
Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice

I can't be held responsible
She was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and
We'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe
We'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

My best friend took a week's
Vacation to forget her
His girl took a weeks's worth of
Valium and slept
And now he's guilt stricken sobbing with his
Head on the floor
Thinks about her now and how he never really
Wept he says

I can't be held responsible
She was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and
We'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe
We'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

hey yeah
hey yeah
hey yeah

We've tried to wash our hands of all this
We never talk of our lacking relationships
And how we're guilt stricken sobbing with our
Heads on the floor
We fell through the ice when we tried not to
Slip, we'd say

I can't be held responsible
She was touching her face
And I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and
We'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe
We'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and
We'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe
We'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen
We were merely freshmen

If you've ever heard this song before then odds are you love it as it is incredible.

The song is about the writer's girlfriend who had an abortion. The part about her ODing and all of that was just made up, but it does make for an exceptional story for an exceptional song.

It is rather sad, though, isn't it?

Personally, I'm shocked that this band never had another hit because I think they showed a lot of promise with this song.
All together, though, this song is about being young and ignorant. I really can't think of a better way of putting it.

BTW, all posts from this one back to 2/13 were posted on the same day. I'm finally back on schedule. I'll try to stop missing posts.

'If You Could Only See' by Tonic
'If You Could Only See'
by Tonic

If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do
If you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me

Well you got your reasons
And you got your lies
And you got your manipulations
They cut me down to size
Sayin’ you love but you don’t
You give your love but you won’t

If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do
If you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me

Seems the road less traveled
Show’s happiness unraveled
And you got to take a little dirt
To keep what you love
That's what you gotta do

Sayin’ you love but you don’t
You give your love but you won’t
You’re stretching out your arms to something that’s just not there
Sayin’ you love where you stand
Give your heart when you can

If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do
If you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me

Sayin’ you love but you don’t
You give your love but you won’t
You’re stretching out your arms to something that’s just not there
Sayin’ you love where you stand
Give your heart when you can

If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do
If you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me

This is truly one of my favorite songs and it has been one since I first heard it.

For one, the song is just great.

Anywho, the song was basically written to express how the writer felt when the mother of the girl he intended to marry disapproved.
Though it has no bearings on why I posted this song tonight, I have been through something very similar to what is going on in this song only it was a mother and a father and while I wanted to marry her at some point, we both agreed it was out of the question to even begin to think about for many years.
The thing that gets me about it, though, is the part where he says "If you could only see how blue her eyes can be when she says she loves me" because she had blue eyes and there was no doubt in my mind when I saw the blue get bluer in her eyes when she told me something.

But I'm sure even posting that much about that will get me bitched or something similar for some time after a certain someone reads it but... Hey... This is my blog, fuckers. I call the shots 'round here and if you dislike what you read, don't read it! I refuse to let anyone censor me in any way even if it would keep things slightly more peaceful for me.

That being said, I'll end this post now. Just remember, bitching, whining, pouting, etc. doesn't do shit for me but piss me off.

'Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover' by Sophie B. Hawkins
'Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover'
by Sophie B. Hawkins

That old dog has chained you up alright
Give you everything you need
To live inside a twisted cage
Sleep beside an empty rage
I had a dream I was your hero

Chorus
Damn I wish I was your lover
I'll rock you till the daylight comes
Make sure you are smiling and warm
I am everything
Tonight I'll be your mother I will
Do such things to ease your pain
Free your mind and you won't feel ashamed

This monkey can't stand to see you black and blue
Give you something sweet each time you
Come inside my jungle book
What is it just too good
Don't say you'll stay
'Cause then you go away

Chorus

Shucks for me there is no other
You're the only shoe that fits
I can't imagine I'll grow out of it
Damn I wish I was your lover

If I was your girl believe me
I'd turn on the Rolling Stones
We could groove along and feel much better
I could do it forever and ever
Give me an hour to kiss you
Walk through heaven's door I'm sure
We don't need no doctor to feel much better
Let me in
Forever and ever and ever and ever

I sat on the mountainside with peace of mind
I lay by the ocean making love to her with visions clear
Walked for days with no one near
And I return as chained and bound to you

Chorus

I decided to make this song my Valentine's Day post because it is very sweet in some ways.

As I understand it, the song is about wanting someone really badly. Some people think its about wanting an ex back really badly and I can certainly see how that could be the case.

At any rate, I have loved this song since I first heard it in the early 90's and my love for it is just as strong today as it was then.

So let me just end by saying that I love you, 'Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover' by Sophie B. Hawkins! lol. (I don't care if that's lame. No one reads this anyways :()

'Under the Bridge' by The Red Hot Chili Peppers
'Under the Bridge'
by The Red Hot Chili Peppers

Sometimes I feel
Like I don’t have a partner
Sometimes I feel
Like my only friend
Is the city I live in
The city of angel
Lonely as I am
Together we cry

I drive on her streets
’cause she’s my companion
I walk through her hills
’cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds
And she kisses me windy
I never worry
Now that is a lie

I don’t ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way

It’s hard to believe
That there’s nobody out there
It’s hard to believe
That I’m all alone
At least I have her love
The city she loves me
Lonely as I am
Together we cry

I don’t ever want to feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way

Under the bridge downtown
Is where I drew some blood
Under the bridge downtown
I could not get enough
Under the bridge downtown
Forgot about my love
Under the bridge downtown
I gave my life away

This is one of those great songs that everyone seems to forget for whatever reason.

Essentially, this song is about a heroine addict who feels that his only friend is the city of LA.

I haven't got a lot to say about this song really as I'm not a heroine addict but it is a great song regardless so... Bite me. It was one of the first songs I can actually remember loving as a kid that wasn't Paula Abdul of NKOTB (Don't judge me. I was young.)

'Mistoy Mountain Hop' by Led Zeppelin
'Misty Mountain Hop'
by Led Zeppelin

Walkin' in the park just the other day, Baby,
What do you, what do you think I saw?
Crowds of people sittin' on the grass with flowers in their hair said,
"Hey, Boy, do you wanna score?"
And you know how it is;
I really don't know what time it was, woh, oh,
So I asked them if I could stay awhile.

I didn't notice but it had got very dark and I was really,
Really out of my mind.
Just then a policeman stepped up to me and asked us said,
"Please, hey, would we care to all get in line,
Get in line."
Well you know, They asked us to stay for tea and have some fun,
Oh, oh, he said that his friends would all drop by, ooh.

Why don't you take a good look at yourself and describe what you see,
And Baby, Baby, Baby, do you like it?
There you sit, sitting spare like a book on a shelf rustin'
Ah, not trying to fight it.
You really don't care if they're coming, oh, oh,
I know that it's all a state of mind, ooh.

If you go down in the streets today, Baby, you better,
You better open your eyes.
Folk down there really don't care, really don't care, don't care, really don't
Which, which way the pressure lies,
So I've decided what I'm gonna do now.
So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains
Where the spirits go now,
Over the hills where the spirits fly, ooh.
I really don't know.
This song is another great song by this great band.

It, too, has a great beat and hits me really hard. I think it was after Stairway to Heaven on the album so I used to hear it often and fell in love with it.

Seriously though, you'd love this song if you heard it. So... hear it. Its about flower children essentially.

This song was also posted on 2/13/06.

'Fool In the Rain' by Led Zeppelin
'Fool In the Rain'
by Led Zeppelin

Well there's a light in your eye that keeps shining
Like a star that can't wait for the night
I hate to think I've been blinded baby
Why can't I see you tonight?

And the warmth of your smile starts a-burnin'
And the thrill of your touch gives me fright
And I'm shaking so much, really yearning
Why don't you show up, make it all right?
Yeah, it's all right.

And if you promised you'd love so completely
and you said you would always be true
You swore that you would never leave me, baby:
What ever happened to you?

And you thought it was only in movies
As you wish all your dreams would come true
It ain't the first time believe me, baby
I'm standin here feeling blue
Yeah I'm blue

Now I will stand in the rain on the corner
I'll watch the people go shuffling downtown
Another ten minutes no longer
And then I'm turning around

The clock on the wall's moving slower
My heart it sinks to the ground
And the storm that I thought would blow over
Clouds the light of the love that I found

Now my body is starting to quiver
And the palms of my hands getting wet
I've got no reason to doubt you baby,
It's all a terrible mess

I'll run in the rain till I'm breathless
When I'm breathless I'll run till I drop, hey
The thoughts of a fool's kind of careless
I'm just a fool waiting on the wrong block, oh yeah
Light of the love that I found...

This song is just great. And its funny, too. Its sadly funny, I guess.

Its about a guy standing in the rain waiting for someone and he thinks he's been stood up and then he realizes he's just waiting on the wrong block.

This song has a great Samba sound and I simply do love it.

This post was actually made on 2/13/06.

'Fortunate Son' by Creedence Clearwater Revival
'Fortunate Son'
by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
Ooh, they're red, white and blue.
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief",
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord,

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no senator's son, son.
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no,

Yeah!
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand,
Lord, don't they help themselves, oh.
But when the taxman comes to the door,
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yes,

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no millionaire's son, no.
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no.

Some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord,
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
Ooh, they only answer More! more! more! yoh,

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no military son, son.
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, one.

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, no no no,
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate son, no no no.

I love this song for a few reasons. One of them is them is to hear ignorant pseudo-patriots sing it like it is a patriotic song.
Many of you likely think it to be patriotic but it isn't. Far from it.

This song speaks against the Vietnam war and the way that certain more fortunate people (IE; a senator's son) could get out of the draft while people that were poor were forced to fight and die.
In a way, it is all the same now. Mostly poor people are in the military so that they won't be unemployed and can at least have some chance of a future or of going to college some day if they are able to survive.

People in power only care about getting the small amounts of money that the poor have. Of course, that is an unfair generalization, but it is often the case.

That's one reason I love Mohammed Ali. He refused to go when drafted though he knew he almost certainly wouldn't have to actually have to fight or be in danger.

But I do love this song and its great to mind-fuck the ignorant with it.

'The Boondocks Theme' by ???
'The Boondocks Theme'
by ???

I am the stone that the builder refused
I am the visual,
the inspiration,
that made lady sing the blues

I'm the spark that makes your idea bright
the same spark
that lights the dark
so that you can know your left from your right

I am the ballot in your box
the bullet in the gun
that inner glow
that lets you know
to call your brother "son"

The story that just begun
the promise of what's to come
and imma remain a soldier
til' the war is won (won)

chop chop chop
Judo flip, chop chop chop
Judo flip, chop chop chop
Judo flip, chop chop chop

I kind of love this song. Its the theme to what is probably my favorite show that's currently in season. The show is 'The Boondocks' and it is on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block at 11PM EST on Sunday nights.

It is a great song and a great show too so tune in and hear it and watch the show as well.

Sorry to cut these last few posts short but I'm sort of in a hurry to get to bed, lol.

'Starfuckers, Inc.' by Nine Inch Nails
'Starfuckers, Inc.'
by Nine Inch Nails

my god sits in the back of the limousine
my god comes in a wrapper of cellophane
my god pouts on the cover of the magazine
my god's a shallow little bitch trying to make the scene

I have arrived and this time you should believe the hype
I listened to everyone now I know that everyone was right
I'll be there for you as long as it works for me
I play a game it's called insincerity

starfuckers
starfuckers
starfuckers incorporated
starfuckers

I am every fucking thing and just a little more
I sold my soul but don't you dare call me a whore
and when I suck you off not a drop will go to waste
it's really not so bad you know once you get past the taste (asskisser)

starfuckers
starfuckers
starfuckers incorporated
starfuckers

starfuckers
starfuckers
starfuckers incorporated
starfuckers

all the pain
how did you think we'd get by without you?
you're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
don't you?
don't you?
don't you?
don't you?
don't you?
don't you?
don't you?
don't you?
don't you? (starfuckers)
(starfuckers)
(starfuckers)
(starfuckers incorporated)
starfuckers (starfuckers)
starfuckers (starfuckers)
(starfuckers)
(starfuckers incorporated)
(starfuckers)
(starfuckers)
now I belong
i'm one of the chosen ones

(starfuckers)
now I belong
i'm one of the chosen ones

(starfuckers)
now I belong
i'm one of the chosen ones

(starfuckers incorporated)
(starfuckers)
now I belong
i'm one of the beautiful ones (starfuckers)
(starfuckers incorporated)

I have become

Another song about superficial people who sleep with the rich and famous just because of who they are. Odds are it is done in order to make themselves feel better about who they are. Its also got to do with how much some people idolize stars and its silly.

People are people. Get over 'em.

'Celebrity Skin' by Hole
'Celebrity Skin'
by Hole

Oh, make me over
I'm all I want to be
A walking study
In demonology

Hey, so glad you could make it
Yeah, now you really made it
Hey, so glad you could make it now

Oh, look at my face
My name is might of been
My name is never was
My name's forgotten

Hey, so glad you could make it
Yeah, now you really made it
Hey, there's only us left now

When I wake up in my make-up
It's too early for that dress
Wilted and faded somewhere in Hollywood
I'm glad I came here
With your pound of flesh
No second billing cause you're a star now
Oh, Cinderella
They aren't sluts like you
Beautiful garbage, Beautiful dresses
Can you stand up or will you just fall down

You better watch out
On what you wish for
It better be worth it
So much to die for

Hey, so glad you could make it
Yeah, now you really made it
Hey, there's only us left now

When I wake up in my make-up
Have you ever felt so used up as this?
It's all so sugarless
Hooker/Waitress/Model/Actress
Oh, just go nameless
Honeysuckle, she's full of poison
She obliterated everything she kissed
Now she's fading
Somewhere in Hollywood
I'm glad I came here
With your pound of flesh

You want a part of me
Well I'm not selling cheap
No, I'm not selling cheap

I'm not a huge Hole or Courtney Love fan but I do like this song. It's about the 'scene' in LA and its superficiality. I've never been to LA but I'm surrounded by the superficial all the time so I can dig it.

'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' by The Darkness
'I Believe In A Thing Called Love'
by The Darkness

Can't explain all the feelings that you're making me feel
My heart's in overdrive and you're behind the steering wheel

Touching you, touching me
Touching you, God you're touching me

I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love
Ooh!

I wanna kiss you every minute, every hour, every day
You got me in a spin but everything is A.OK!

Touching you, touching me
Touching you, God you're touching me

I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love
Ooh! Guitar!

Touching you, touching me
Touching you, God you're touching me

I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love
Ooh!

I absolutely love this song!
Its like this band was stuck in the 80's when they made it and as most of you know, I'm all about the 80's.

Its a really catchy song, too. Warning, though, singing along may hurt your throat... badly.

Anywho, I absolutely love this song. Its very well made.

'You Never Even Call Me By My Name' by David Allen Coe
'You Never Even Call Me By My Name'
by David Allen Coe

Well, it was all
that I could do to keep from cryin'.
Sometimes, it seemed so useless to remain,
but you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'.
You never even call me by my name.

You don't have to call me Waylon Jennings,
and you don't have to call me Charlie Pride,
and you don't have to call me Merle Haddard anymore
even though you're on my fightin' side.

And, I'll hang around as long as you will let me,
and I never minded standing in the rain,
but you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'.
you never even called me by my name.

Well, I've heard my name
a few times in your phone book (Hello, Hello),
and I've seen it on signs where I have played,
but the only time I know
I'll hear, "David Allen Coe,"
is when Jesus has his final judgement day.

And, I'll hang around as long as you will let me,
and I never minded standing in the rain,
but you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'.
you never even called me by my name.

Recitation:
Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song.
And, he told me it was the perfect Country & Western song
I wrote him bacl a letter, and I told him it was not the perfect Country & Western song, because he hadn't said anything at about mama,
or trains,
or trucks,
or prison,
or gettiin' drunk.
Well, he sat down and wrote another verse to the song,
and he sent it to me,
and after reading it,
I realized that my friend had written the perfect Country & Western song.
And, I felt obliged to include it on this album.
The last verse goes like this here:

Well, i was drunk the day my mom got out of prison,
and I went to pick her up in the rain,
but before I could get to the station in my pickup truck,
she got runned over by a damned old train.

And, I'll hang around as long as you will let me.
And, I never minded standin' in the rain.
No, a' you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'.
You never even call me...
Well, I wonder why you don't call me.
Why don't you ever call me by my name?

From this post until the post for 2/9/05 were all posted at the same time (early morning 2/10/05).
This song is just great. Even without the last verse it would still be great (David Allen Coe's great as it is so... Ya know.)

But that verse just makes the song that much more memorable.

Not much else I can say about this song, though. Its a classic.

'Alison' by Elvis Costello
'Alison'
by Elvis Costello

Oh, it's so funny to be seeing you after so long, girl.
By the way you look I understand that you were not impressed.
But I heard you let that little friend of mine
Take off your party dress.
I'm not gonna get too sentimental
Like those other sticky valentines.
Cuz I don't know if you were lovin' some body
I only know it isn't mine.

Alison, I know this world is killing you.
Oh, Alison, my aim is true.

Well, I see you've got a husband now.
Did he leave your pretty fingers lying in the wedding cake?
You used to hold him right in your hand
But he took all he could take.
Sometimes I wish that I could stop you from talking
When I hear the silly things that you say.
I think somebody better put out the big light
Cuz I can't stand to see you this way.

Alison, I know this world is killing you.
Oh, Alison, my aim is true.
My aim is true.

This wasn't the song by Elvis Costello that I had intended to post originally but I found it, it got stuck in my head right away and decided to post it.

Some people think that it is about murder but I doubt that it is. I see a few things that could possibly make me think that but they are sorta 'few and far between' as the say.

Anywho, I've felt so much like the guy in this song many times before and its a shit way to feel. I've actually felt that way before (too recently to be happy about) in almost every way described in this song like... line by line, lol. The whole wedding cake thing may be the exception but it could just be Costello using a metaphor that I just don't understand.

Its a pretty sad and at the very least emotional song, though. Costello's voice is amazing as always, though so... yeah.

S'all for now, folks!

'Blowin' In the Wind' by Bob Dylan
'Blowin' In the Wind'
by Bob Dylan

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Great song and very poetic. Odds are you have heard it.

Its rather clear to see the song is about the abstract questions in the universe.

Interesting note, in the 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' series, the line "How many roads must a man walk down?" is chosen to be the question to the answer of 42 after they realized they didn't know the question and only their answer.

Anywho, it is one of the best songs ever created so... yeah.

'Boom' by System of a Down
'Boom'
by System of a Down

I've been walking through your streets,
where all your money's earning,
where all your building's crying
and clueless neckties working.
Revolving fake lawn houses,
housing all your fears.
Desensitized by TV,
overbearing advertising.
God of consumerism,
and all your crooked pictures
looking good, mirrorism,
filtering information
for the public eye.
Designed for profiteering.
Your neighbor, what a guy.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Everytime you drop the bomb, you kill the God your child has born.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Modern globalization,
coupled with condemnation.
Unnecessary death.
Matador corporations,
puppeting your frustrations
with a blinded flag.
Manufacturing consent is the name of the game.
The bottom line is money, nobody gives a fuck!
4000 hungry children leave us per hour from starvation.
While billions are spent on bombs, creating death showers!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Everytime you drop the bomb, you kill the God your child has born.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Why must we kill all of our own kind?

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Everytime you drop the bomb, you kill the God your child has born.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Everytime you drop the BOMB!

This song is about governments spending money on wars and things to help start and further wars when the money could and should be spent on more useful things.

As the song points out, it is silly to have around 4000 children die daily of starvation as we're spending thousands and even millions of dollars on each of the missiles we're lobbing at school buildings and other soft targets that are mistaken for military targets.

I love this song, though, and the video, too. There is a great little cartoon in it.

But I digress. If you've never heard the song, do so now. Seriously. System of a Down is one of the few true punk bands anywhere near the public eye these days. Punk isn't a look, people. Elvis Costello is punk in my book. And speaking of him, look for something by him ASAP.

'Behind Blue Eyes' by The Who
'Behind Blue Eyes'
by The Who

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool

If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

Yet another song by The Who. This could mean two things: I'm lazy or they're a great band.

Both are true.

This song is really good, though. Unfortunately, some of you have only head the version by Limp Bizkit and it is rather unfortunate as they're an absolutely shite band and did this song no justice.

The song is about being misunderstood and lonely though famous or well known. Its pretty sad, really. The words are really great. Read 'em. I'm too tired and its too late to post what they're about when its pretty clear just by reading them.
