'Jet Airliner' by The Steve Miller Band
|
'Jet Airliner' by The Steve Miller BandLeavin' home, out on the road I've been down before Ridin' along in this big ol' jet plane I've been thinkin' about my home But my love light seems so far away And I feel like it's all been done Somebody's tryin' to make me stay You know I've got to be movin' on Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner Don't carry me too far away Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner Cause it's here that I've got to stay Goodbye to all my friends at home Goodbye to people I've trusted I've got to go out and make my way I might get rich you know I might get busted But my heart keeps calling me backwards As I get on the 707 Ridin' high I got tears in my eyes You know you got to go through hell Before you get to heaven Big ol' jet airliner Don't carry me too far away Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner Cause it's here that I've got to stay Touchin' down in New England town Feel the heat comin' down I've got to keep on keepin' on You know the big wheel keeps on spinnin' around And I'm goin' with some hesitation You know that I can surely see That I don't want to get caught up in any of that Funky shit goin' down in the city Big ol' jet airliner Don't carry me too far away Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner Cause it's here that I've got to stay Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner Don't carry me too far away Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner Cause it's here that I've got to stay Yeah, yeah yeah, yeah Big ol' jet airliner Don't carry me too far away Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner Cause it's here that I've got to stay Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner Carry me to my home Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner Cause it's there that I belong
Another great Steve Miller song. Again, I love this band. -=The Prynce

This song MAY be a big sexual reference but I doubt it. It's the shit, though. Say it isn't. ...Yeah, that's what I thought. -=The Prynce

|
'Fly Like an Eagle' by The Steve Miller BandTime keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' Into the future Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' Into the future I want to fly like an eagle To the sea Fly like an eagle Let my spirit carry me I want to fly like an eagle Till I'm free Oh, Lord, through the revolution Feed the babies Who don't have enough to eat Shoe the children With no shoes on their feet House the people Livin' in the street Oh, oh, there's a solution I want to fly like an eagle To the sea Fly like an eagle Let my spirit carry me I want to fly like an eagle Till I'm free Fly through the revolution Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' Into the future Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' Into the future Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' Into the future Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' Into the future I want to fly like an eagle To the sea Fly like an eagle Let my spirit carry me I want to fly like an eagle Till I'm free Fly through the revolution Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' Into the future Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' Into the future
Some people say this song is about the hippie lifestyle and others say its about drugs while others hold it to be about fixing social problems. I say there is no real difference. Hippies were for all of that. I love this song, though. Its one you can just put on and listen to and do pretty much anything. -=The Prynce

'Dr. Feelgood' by Motley Crue
|
'Dr. Feelgood' by Motley CrueRat-tailed Jimmy is a second hand hood He deals out in Hollywood Got a '65 Chevy, primered flames Traded for some powdered goods Jigsaw Jimmy He's runnin' a gang But I hear he's doin' o.k. Got a cozy little job, sells the Mexican mob Packages of candycaine He's the one they call Dr. Feelgood He's the one that makes ya feel alright He's the one they call Dr. Feelgood Cops on the corner always ignore Somebody's getting paid Jimmy's got it wired, law's for hire Got it made in the shade Got a little hideaway, does business all day But at night he'll always be found Selling sugar to the sweet People on the street Call this Jimmy's town He's the one they call Dr. Feelgood He's the one that makes ya feel alright He's the one they call Dr. Feelgood He's gonna be your Frankenstein I've got one thing you'll understand He's not what you'd call a glamorous man Got one thing that's easily understood He's the one they call Dr. Feelgood He'll tell you he's the king Of thes barrio streets Moving up to shangri-la Came by his wealth as a matter of luck Says he never broke no law Two time loser running out of juice Time to move out quick Heard a rumour going round Jimmy's going down This time it's gonna stick He's the one they call Dr. Feelgood He's the one that makes ya feel alright He's the one they call Dr. Feelgood He's gonna be your Frankenstein Let him soothe your soul, just take his hand Some people call him an evil man Let him introduce himself real good He's the only one they call "Feelgood"
Ok so this is probably the most famous Crue song ever. Of course, I love this song. There's a backwards bit in this song, also. Anyone know what it says exactly? I recall the video making it look like Nikki Sixx was just making the sounds normally with his mouth but... I doubt it. -=The Prynce

'Home Sweet Home' by Motley Crue
|
'Home Sweet Home' by Motley CrueYou know I'm a dreamer But my heart's of gold I had to run away high So I wouldn't come home low Just when things went right It doesn't mean they were always wrong Just take this song and you'll never feel Left all alone Take me to your heart Feel me in your bones Just one more night And I'm comin' off this Long & winding road I'm on my way Well I'm on my way Home sweet home Tonight tonight I'm on my way I'm on my way Home sweet home You know that I've seen To many romantic dreams Up in lights, fallin' off The silver screen My heart's like an open book For the whole world to read Sometimes nothing-keeps me together At the seams I'm on my way Well I'm on my way Home sweet home Tonight tonight I'm on my way Just set me free Home sweet home
This post and all until otherwise noted were all posted on May 22, 2006. Anywho, I love the Crue. This song is probably one of my favorites. Gotta love the power ballads, eh? -=The Prynce

'Bent' by Matchbox TwentyIf I fall along the way pick me up and dust me off. and if I get too tired to make it be my breath so I can walk If I need some other love give me more than I can stand and when my smile gets old and faded wait around I'll smile again shouldn't be so complicated just hold me and then just hold me again can you help me I'm bent I'm so scared that I'll never get put back together you're breaking me in and this is how we will end with you and me bent If I couldn't sleep could you sleep could you paint me better off could you sympathize with my needs I know you think I need a lot I started out clean but I'm jaded just phoning it in just breaking the skin start bending me It's never enough I feel all your pieces start bending me Keep bending me until I'm completely broken in shouldn't be so complicated just touch me and then just touch me again
Apparently, this song is about someone who is at a point in a relationship that he needs someone else to help him make a decision that will change things in a large way. I love this song tons. This band is shockingly one of my favorites (in a way). -=The Prynce

'I'll Cry Instead' by The Beatles
|
'I'll Cry Instead' by The BeatlesI've got every reason on earth to be mad 'Cause I've just lost the only girl I had And if I could get my way I'd get myself locked up today But I can't so I cry instead I've got a chip on my shoulder that's bigger than my feet I can't talk to people that I meet And if I could see you now I'd try to make you sad somehow But I can't so I cry instead Don't want to cry when there's people there I get shy when they start to stare I'm gonna hide myself away, ay hay But I'll come back again someday And when I do you'd better hide all the girls I'm gonna break their hearts all 'round the world Yes, I'm gonna break them in two And show you what your loving man can do Until then I'll cry instead Don't want to cry when there's people there I get shy when they start to stare I'm gonna hide myself away, ay hay But I'll come back again someday And when I do you'd better hide all the girls 'Cause I'm gonna break their hearts all 'round the world Yes, I'm gonna break them in two And show you what your loving man can do Until then I'll cry instead
Pretty simple song to understand but its great in its simplicity. The last few bits are almost amazing but then he says he's gonna just cry until he makes his recovery. So... yeah. I dunno, lol. I dig this song regardless of the courage or what-ever of the singer. -=The Prynce

'The End' by The BeatlesOh yeah, all right Are you gonna be in my dreams tonight? Love you, love you... And in the end the love you take Is equal to the love you make.
This song got the title as it was supposed to be the last song on 'Abbey Road'. But this song is great though it is short. The last two lines are among the most profound and interesting lines I've ever heard in music before. -=The Prynce

'Blackbird' by The Beatles
|
'Blackbird' by The BeatlesBlackbird singing in the dead of night, Take these broken wings and learn to fly. All your life, You were only waiting for this moment to arise. Blackbird singing in the dead of night, Take these sunken eyes and learn to see. All your life, You were only waiting for this moment to be free. Blackbird, fly. Blackbird, fly, Into the light of a dark black night. Blackbird, fly. Blackbird, fly, Into the light of a dark black night. Blackbird singing in the dead of night, Take these broken wings and learn to fly. All your life, You were only waiting for this moment to arise. You were only waiting for this moment to arise, You were only waiting, for this moment to arise.
This song is supposed to be about the civil rights movement of the 60's. This song is really beautiful, too... The cover on the movie 'I Am Sam' is bitchin' too but this is tits. -=The Prynce

'Oh! Darling' by The Beatles
|
'Oh! Darling' by The BeatlesOh! Darling, please believe me I'll never do you no harm Believe me when I tell you I'll never do you no harm Oh! Darling, if you leave me I'll never make it alone Believe me when I thank you, ooo Don't ever leave me alone When you told me You didn't need me anymore Well you know I nearly broke down and cried When you told me You didn't need me anymore Well you know I nearly broke down and died Oh! Darling, if you leave me I'll never make it alone Believe me when I tell you I'll never do you no harm Believe me darling When you told me You didn't need me anymore Well you know I nearly broke down and cried When you told me You didn't need me anymore Well you know I nearly broke down and died Oh! Darling, please believe me I'll never let you down Oh, believe me darling Believe me when I tell you, ooo I'll never do you no harm
This song is one of my favorites by The Beatles. It is supposed to be a doo-wop style song and Paul had to work hard to make his voice rough enough to make himself happy with it for this song. This song is pretty sad though when you hear Paul's voice. -=The Prynce

'Honey Pie' by The Beatles
|
'Honey Pie' by The BeatlesShe was a working girl North of England way Now she's hit the big time In the U.S.A. And if she could only hear me This is what I'd say. Honey pie you are making me crazy I'm in love but I'm lazy So won't you please come home. Oh honey pie my position is tragic Come and show me the magic of your Hollywood song. You became a legend of the silver screen And now the thought of meeting you Makes me weak in the knee. Oh honey pie you are driving me frantic Sail across the Atlantic To be where you belong. Will the wind that blew her boat Across the sea Kindly send her sailing back to me. Honey pie you are making me crazy I'm in love but I'm lazy So won't you please come home.
This song kicks so much ass. It doesn't sound too great with the lyrics alone I'm sure but I've never met anyone who didn't like this song. It has a great old time feel about it. -=The Prynce

'Everything is Beautiful' by Ray Stevens
|
'Every Is Beautiful' by Ray StevensJesus loves the little children All the children of the world Red and yellow, black and white They are precious in his sight Jesus loves the little children of the world Refrain: Everything is beautiful in its own way Like a starry summer night Or a snow-covered winter's day And everybody's beautiful, in their own way Under God's Heaven The world's gonna find a way There is none so blind As he who will not see We must not close our minds We must let our thoughts be free For every eye that passes by You know the world gets a little bit older It's time to realize that beauty lies In the eyes of the beholder {Refrain} We shouldn't care 'bout the length of his hair Or the color of his skin Don't worry about what shows from without But the love that lives within We're gonna get it all together, now Everything gonna work out fine Just take a little time to look on the good side, my friend And straighten it out in your mind Refrain
Another song that I really love though its almost exclusively a Christian song to most people. But the message is great and peaceful so I have no problem with the song and I actually love it a ton. Read the lyrics, folks. This is the last song posted on 4/6/2006. -=The Prynce

'Mississippi Squirrel Revival' by Ray Stevens
|
'Mississippi Squirrel Revival' by Ray StevensWell when I was kid I'd take a trip every summer, down to Mississippi. To visit my granny in her ante bellum world.I'd run barefooted all day long, climbing trees free as a song. One day I happened catch myself a squirrel. I stuffed him down in an old shoebox, punched a couple holes in the top and when Sunday came, I snuck him into church. I was sittin way back in the very last pew showin him to my good buddy Hugh, when that squirrel got loose and went totally berserk! Well what happened next is hard to tell. Some thought it was heaven others thought it was hell. But the fact that something was among us was plain to see. As the choir sang I Surrender All the squirrel ran up Harv Newlan's coveralls harv leaped to his feet anmd said, "Somethin's got a hold on me!" YEOW The day the squirrel went berserk. In the First Self-Righteous Church Of that sleepy little town of Pascagoula. It was a fight for survival, that broke out in revival. They were jumpin pews and shouting Halelujah! Well Harv hit the isles dancin and screamin some thought he had religion others thought he had a demon Harv thought he had a weed eater loose in his fruit of the looms. He fell to his knees to plead and beg, and that squirrel ran out of his britches leg, unobserved to the other side of the room. All the way down to the Amen pew where sat Sister Bertha better than you Who had been watching all the commotion with sadistic glee. You should've seen the look in her eyes when that squirrel jumped her garters and crossed her thighs. she jumped to her feet and said, "Lord have mercy on me!" As the squirrel made laps inside her dress, she began to cry and then to confess to sins that would make a sailor blush with shame. She told of gossip and church disention, but the thing that got the most attention is when she talked about her love life then she started naming names! The day the squirrel went berserk. In the First Self-Righteous Church Of that sleepy little town of Pascagoula. It was a fight for survival, that broke out in revival. They were jumpin pews and shouting Halelujah! Well seven deacons and the pastor got saved and 25,000 dollars got raised. And 50 volunteered for missions in the Congo on the spot. and even without and invitaion there were at least 500 rededications. And we ALL got rebaptised whether we needed it or not. Well you've heard the Bible stories I guess of how he parted the waters for Moses to pass. All th miracles God has brought to this l' world. But the one I'll remember to my dyin day is how he put that church back on the narrow way with a half crazed Mississippi Squirrel The day the squirrel went berserk. In the First Self-Righteous Church Of that sleepy little town of Pascagoula. It was a fight for survival, that broke out in revival. They were jumpin pews and shouting Halelujah!
I love Ray Stevens and many of his songs that could be considered Christian songs though I'm not a Christian as you will also see in my next post But this song is very funny and I've always loved it. -=The Prynce

'The Winner Takes It All' by Abba
|
'The Winner Takes It All' by ABBAI don't wanna talk About the things we've gone through Though it's hurting me Now it's history I've played all my cards And that's what you've done too Nothing more to say No more ace to play CHORUS The winner takes it all The loser standing small Beside the victory That's her destiny I was in your arms Thinking I belonged there I figured it made sense Building me a fence Building me a home Thinking I'd be strong there But I was a fool Playing by the rules The gods may throw a dice Their minds as cold as ice And someone way down here Loses someone dear The winner takes it all The loser has to fall It's simple and it's plain Why should I complain ? But tell me does she kiss Like I used to kiss you ? Does it feel the same When she calls your name ? Somewhere deep inside You must know I miss you But what can I say Rules must be obeyed The judges will decide The likes of me abide Spectators of the show Always staying low The game is on again A lover or a friend A big thing or a small The winner takes it all I don't wanna talk If it makes you feel sad And I understand You've come to shake my hand I apologize If it makes you feel bad Seeing me so tense No self-confidence But you see... The winner takes it all The winner takes it all
This is yet another song by my greatest 'guilty pleasure' ABBA. This song is amazing and sad though. I think it closes out there Greatest Hits CD but I don't remember for sure. But I do love this song though it is rather sad. -=The Prynce

'Getting Better' by The Beatles
|
'Getting Better' by The BeatlesIt's getting better all the time I used to get mad at my school The teachers who taught me weren't cool You're holding me down, turning me round Filling me up with your rules I've got to admit it's getting better A little better all the time I have to admit it's getting better It's getting better since you've been mine Me used to be a angry young man Me hiding me head in the sand You gave me the word I finally heard I'm doing the best that I can I've got to admit it's getting better A little better all the time I have to admit it's getting better It's getting better since you've been mine Getting so much all the time It's getting better all the time Better, better, better It's getting better all the time Better, better, better I used to be cruel to my woman I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved Man I was mean but I'm changing my scene And I'm doing the best that I can I admit it's getting better A little better all the time Yes I admit it's getting better It's getting better since you've been mine Getting so much all the time It's getting better all the time Better, better, better It's getting better all the time Better, better, better Getting so much all the time
This song is about things getting better. It seems as though the writer is the one improving, really, but nonetheless, it is about improvement. I just thought a positive song would be nice for a change, lol. -=The Prynce

'Disgustipated' by Tool
|
'Disgustipated' by ToolAnd the angel of the lord came unto me, snatching me up from my place of slumber. And took me on high, and higher still until we moved to the spaces betwixt the air itself. And he brought me into a vast farmlands of our own midwest. And as we descended, cries of impending doom rose from the soil. One thousand, nay a million voices full of fear. And terror possesed me then. And I begged, "Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?" And the angel said unto me, "These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots! You see, Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day and to them it is the holocaust." And I sprang from my slumber drenched in sweat like the tears of one million terrified brothers and roared, "Hear me now, I have seen the light! They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! Damn you! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers!" Can I get an amen? Can I get a hallelujah? Thank you Jesus. Life feeds on life feeds on life feeds on life feeds on........ This is necessary. It was daylight when you woke up in your ditch. You looked up at your sky then. That made blue be your color. You had your knife there with you too. When you stood up there was goo all over your clothes. Your hands were sticky. You wiped them on your grass, so now your color was green. Oh Lord, why did everything always have to keep changing like this. You were already getting nervous again. Your head hurt and it rang when you stood up. Your head was almost empty. It always hurt you when you woke up like this. You crawled up out of your ditch onto your gravel road and began to walk, waiting for the rest of your mind to come back to you. You can see the car parked far down the road and you walked toward it. "If God is our Father," you thought, "then Satan must be our cousin." Why didn't anyone else understand these important things? You got to your car and tried all the doors. They were locked. It was a red car and it was new. There was an expensive leather camera case laying on the seat. Out across your field, you could see two tiny people walking by your woods. You began to walk towards them. Now red was your color and, of course, those little people out there were yours too.
This song is too funny and strange and... I don't know. The first part is just... Too much. The last part was left on Tool's singer Maynyrd James Keenan's answering machine by his landlord (or so the story goes). -=The Prynce
